It’s finally there, my twentieth magazine cover image. The new Dutch diving magazine “Duikmagazine” just came out. This issue holds a large story that I made last summer about Tasmania. The cover features a Weedy Sea Dragon close-up of the head of this beautiful animal.
Tasmania became one of my favorite destinations. The water was cold and we had to use drysuits. Tasmania is also a bit far from Europe. But the diving in Tasmania is just great. I will put my Tasmania images in my photo gallery soon.

Minke Whales
For many divers it is a dream to have the possibility to dive with whales. So when we heard that each year in the months June and July a large number of dwarf minke whales swim along the Great Barrier Reef in Australia our interest was raised. We decided that we would go and examine this phenomenon with our own eyes and went off to Australia.
White Sea
In the White Sea a safety stop is seldom boring. At most places you can come up along the steep rocks while you enjoy the underwater landscape of plumose anemones. Don’t forget to look into the open water from time to time. Large free swimming jellyfishes with long white tentacles pass by on a regular basis. The jellyfishes are nice to see, but be careful that the tentacles don’t touch your face.

Take a trip to the north of Russia to dive? For most people this doesn’t sound very attractive. Our friends immediately declared us insane. Travel to that scary, unfriendly and grey country? And even go diving there? But we went towards our adventure. And what we would find here, we could not have imagined. We arrived at the northwest of Russia and we stepped back in time. Friendly people welcomed us in their world. The Arctic water was cold but impressed us with a beautiful under water landscape. Travel along with us to this strange world and enjoy the beautiful underwater world!

Tawali
Tawali; stay in luxury at Papua New Guinea
Papua New Guinea is, after Greenland, the world's second largest island. It is an island of contrasts. Small islands, mountain peaks with tropical rain forest to about 5000 meters, primitive mountain villages and beautiful resorts. Everything is available on the island The island is divided into two parts. The western part belongs to Indonesia and is perhaps better known as Irian Jaya or West Papua. The eastern part of the island is Papua New Guinea, which is divided into eighteen different provinces.
Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef in the world. The entire reef is about 2000 km long and between 25 and 50 km wide. It is located in the Coral Sea east of the state of Queensland in northeastern Australia. The reef runs from the southern state of Queensland to Papua New Guinea. The area is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Australia. Because it is such an important nature reserve the area is declared a World Heritage in 1981. The enormity of the reef is perfectly shown on satellite images.
Leopard Seal
Diving with seals is an incredible experience. Several sorts of seals can be found in the Antarctic. While on search for the infamous Leopard seals, we had the pleasure to find some elephant seals and some waddle seals during our trips around the ice. The highly sought after Leopard seals are considered to be the most ferocious seals in the Antarctic. Adult male leopard seals can reach a length of about 3 meters and can weigh up to 300 kilograms. Females are a bit larger. They can be found around the packed ice in summer.
Antarctica
Diving was our main reason for visiting Antarctica so when we arrived we were eager to get started. Diving in the Antarctic is quite an undertaking; yet, divers are briefed during all stages of the trip. Every trip to Antarctica is an adventure. The nautical route as well as the dive sites can not be pre-determined as local weather conditions can and will always influence the trip.
Antarctica Topside
In the past, man could only dream about the existence of a southern continent and for years scientists excitedly discussed the possibility of its existence. They believed that the world should have such a continent since the Earth consisted of so much land volume in the Northern hemisphere it then should have a counter weight in the south to equalize it.
